Flash Trivia!!

A very interesting post on FlashDen cought my eye while going through MXNA this morning. This is about some interesting facts about Flash. As he puts it:

"You probably think you know a lot about Flash, but with a bit of scouring of the web I have put together a few things you probably haven't heard"

My favourite amongst all:

"Did you know that more than 11 years ago Adobe had a chance to buy Flash and declined?"

Call it back to senses, Adobe? Huh!! Read the full post here.

Flash Creators leave Adobe

It came as a rude shock when I recently found out that the two creators of Flash (Jonathan Gay and Robert Tatsumi) have left Adobe. These are the guys who actually created Future Splash, which went on to become Flash. They also took with them the creator of ActionScript and Flash virtual machine Gary Grossman. Gary was one of the primary architects responsible for shaping the Flash Player into what it is today.

Apparently, these 3 guys have teamed up with ex-Macromedia VP of Engineering, Peter Santangeli, to start a new company called Software as Art. We can only wait and watch for things to come out of the stable.

Speculation is, there were some disagreements about where Flash was heading (after being taken under the wings of the Creative Suite). As I said, it’s all speculation, but none-the-less, its a sad day when any key figures leave a company.

Testing new waters

It's been almost a month since I last blogged; my apologies for not the same. It has been quite an eventful month and I was dead busy with whole lot of stuff to keep track of things. I still have to check on MAX news and also there are some events coming up in SA region. Will try and update as frequently as possible.

I mentioned some related news to my coming to Bangalore in the last post, so here goes. I left Infosys about a week back so now I am an ex-infocion. It was not an easy decision to make but the reasons for doing the same seem too many and so the switch. Where am I headed? Well, let's just say wait for a while and you will know.

In any case, you can mail me at abhishekkapoor[at]gmail[dot]com and keep in touch.
